This is my “Happy Season” – looking forward to saying goodbye to dark days and nights and welcoming brighter days ahead. Here’s hoping that this year we can look forward to holidays and special occasions with family and friends, all the things we may have once taken for granted!
This new season ahead happens long before the beautiful children’s clothes hit the Baby Boutique. In September every year, I head off on a road trip to Dublin to view all of the ranges from the different designers we deal with. Occasionally, I also travel abroad to the children's fashion fairs. It is great to catch up with the agents that provide us with all the beautiful outfits we offer you. The buying gives me a real feel good factor as I know that some little baby boy or girl will at some stage be strutting around in clothes that I have chosen!
For obvious reasons, the buying this year was the most difficult for some time given the uncertainty we all face. We ended up being closed for almost half of the year in 2020, but when we were allowed to open for business, the loyalty and enthusiasm of our customers filled me with hope and optimism for the 2021 season.
After all the buying is done, the clothes start arriving almost straight after Christmas. We love opening the boxes to see all the cute little things inside. It definitely makes January go quicker every year.
Why so positive? Well there is a sense of freedom about the summer – loose and flowing clothes for comfort, bright sunny colours which I think the Irish complexion needs! The sun often compliments the colours to make them even more striking. We must look forward to brighter days ahead!
That’s why the main theme for the summer of 2021 will be bright and cheery colours, comfortable and feel good clothes with a balance of the traditional and the trendy. Our many designers from all over Europe offer a variety of different styles, shapes and sizes to ensure there is something for everyone. Every year we acquire a new brand which is always exciting as it brings something new to the Baby Boutique. For the pastel lovers, we always have a huge range of the sky blues, pale pinks and whites which will never date.
